VENICE

BEFORE BREAKFAST

The mist wrapping
Itself around
Islands in the
Venetian lagoon
As it has done since
Time immemorial
Sunlight through
The mist
Falling
Lighting up
Onion domes
Traffic on the water
Hustling and bustling
Ever urgent
Against the
Density of
Time and history
And life
Through
Centuries

VENICE

NIGHTTIME

Venice in all its moods
Rain - slashed
Thunder and lightening
Lit up like a
Theatrical set
Masked for Carnivale
Male and female obscured
Beneath a faceless exterior
Piety hidden
While the elements roar
Fear stalks
Until morning breaks
And a gentler mood
Softens the water
